Please be nice.
The whole concept of Diasomnia, Maleficent, Sleeping Beauty and this book itself is to demonstrate various types of love and how they are established.
Lilia’s entire part is to show the types of love he experienced. The way each type of love, from the one that said he was incapable of loving, changed him completely.
Sebek and Sebek’s grandfather are friends. Something that usually comes unexpectedly and completely unprepared. Some friendships come from years of living together, and you don’t even notice when you start to love them.
Malleus and Silver are both family-like in a way. He chooses to try to love them as much as he can, abandoning his own prejudices and fears to give his heart to these children. One from the people he loved the most and the other from his greatest enemy. And he loves them both equally, with all his heart, because he chose to love them.
Malleus’ parents are a demonstration of his romantic side. A mix of a relationship that started out of choice like a family relationship, but that came as surreptitiously as a friendship. Lilia loved them both very much, so much that despite the death of Malleus’ mother by humans and the disappearance of Malleus’ father by those same humans, Lilia continued to teach Malleus to be kind to humans and even decided not to kill Silver for the same reason. (As Malleus’ father always promoted kindness towards humans, and attempts to unite both sides. This came from him alone)
No platonic love would be capable enough to change your heart so deeply to the point of you going against a revenge and a mourning of years that is inside of you.
And think about it from the side, that I see your have a kinda homophobic see but it could be completely structural, if Lilia were a girl. Would you see her relationship with Malleus’ father in the same way?
That line sounds like she’s saying “no man is dedicated to me.”
She’s also just trying to show that Lilia cared deeply for Malleus’s father and for her. She’s asking Lilia to take care of her unborn child so it makes sense she’s bringing that up. I don’t think Lilia is bi either just from this conversation alone.
